Erika Davis-Marsh’s CODA shares the story of a young dancer who was born to deaf parents. The film displays a diverse cast and authentically features deaf actors including Ryan Lane (Switched at Birth), CJ Jones (Baby Driver) and Antoinette Abbamonte (Switched at Birth).

The film introduces Kerrynton Jones and the stunning choreography was created by Tyce Diorio (So You Think You Can Dance). Having only just begun its festival run the film already won the programmers’ Choice Award at Cleveland, the Founder’s Award at ReelAbilities and is part of the official selection at LA Shorts.

Logline:
A young dancer struggles with her bi-cultural identity when she meets a confident young Deaf drummer who stirs up old conflicted feelings about growing up hearing in a Deaf family

During filming the production employed four American Sign Language interpreters who worked during rehearsals and filming to facilitate fluid communication between the crew and the actors. CODA stands for Child of Deaf Adults.
