Yael Shavitt female-driven miniseries ‘Split’ screens in NYC

Yael Shavitt, the creator of SPLIT has announced that her new web series, SPLIT will screen at the Brooklyn Women’s Film FestivalSaturday, June 23 at 7pm at the Wythe Hotel: Screening Room & Bar 80 Wythe Avenue Brooklyn, NY. The pilot episode of SPLIT premiered in Toronto, as part of T.O. WebFest, it also screened on June 6 at 7pm at Anthology Film Archives 32 Second Avenue New York, NY:

Split Logline: An early decision in a young girl’s life creates a split in her world, sending her off on two parallel paths into alternate futures.

Pilot Synopsis:
After auditioning for a drama high school, 13-­‐year-­‐old Sammy makes a crucial choice that splits the path of her life in two. Flash forward twelve years: in one world, Sammy’s grown into Sam, a confident up-­‐and-­‐coming actress in a turbulent relationship with her girlfriend. In another world, she’s Samantha, an eager assistant director living comfortably with her longtime boyfriend.

SPLIT stars Kristin Parker (OITNB, Blue Bloods), Lori Hammel (Rapid Eye Movement, Master of None), Cory Censoprano (Yellow Face, Twelfth Night), J.R Yussuf, Jessica Digiovanni (Forever, A Stand Up Guy), and Gabrielle Pegg (Saturday Night Fever, Anne)

YAEL SHAVITT (Creator/Writer & Lead Actress) is an actor and filmmaker based in NYC. Shavitt co-­‐created the documentary feature film “iF YOU PULL NORTH,” which premiered at the Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival

MOLLY MCGAUGHEY (Director) is a filmmaker and comedian based out of NYC. She is primarily a director for film and also produces and writes for screen and stage.

ANNAH HANCOCK RUBINSKY (Executive Producer) is a native New Yorker who has found her way home after many years of living out of state. While living in London she ran the video department of the British music website This is Fake DIY. After escaping to New Orleans, she produced a short film, “A Most Complex Form of Ventriloquism,” that went on to be one of the top 20 films at the Louisiana Film Prize and Competition and won the Audience Award in the Short Film category at the New Orleans Film Festival.

SAMANTHA PYRA (Director of Photography) is a NYC cinematographer and recent director. She’s shot award-­‐winning web series like “Sensitive,” “59 Days in NY,” and “No Method.” She created, directed, and edited the interactive series “Mysteries in NYC” which was screened at Tribeca Film Festival.
