Daphne Fischer and Lex Ryan in Distance Directed by Seri DeYoung

Distance is a story about a family in crisis. It is directed by Seri DeYoung a director and actress based in Los Angeles. Distance premiers at Dances With Films 11th June 2022.

Synopsis: When Joey overdoses at her out-of-state college, her polished and perfect big sister May comes to pick up the pieces as she carts Joey back to their hometown. Over the course of a cross-country road trip, the sisters are forced to reckon with the emotional turmoil that comes with loving someone who refuses to accept help.

The cast includes Daphne Fischer, a multi-hyphenate talent who brings depth and grit to every role she embodies. As well as Lex Ryan, whose talent is undeniable as May. Casting them as the composed older sister was a no-brainer, especially because the filmmakers believe that on-screen representation for trans/non-binary actors does not have to revolve around gender identity or struggle.

Filming occurred during the pandemic, with a gender-balanced crew, with sustainable working hours. It was a high priority for the filmmakers to create a set that promoted safety, which is why they made sure to create a schedule that allowed for reasonable rest for the entire crew.
