Tokyo – In response to the delay and cancelation of film festivals globally due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Award-Winning Director and Producer Yujiro Seki has announced that there will also be a delay to the start of the distribution process for the documentary Carving the Divine Buddhist Sculptors of Japan. However, Yujiro Seki also announced that he has resumed the production of Carving the Divine TV as a YouTube TV series.

“We express our condolences to everyone who are victims of the novel coronavirus around the world. Carving the Divine was accepted to some of the major film festivals before the pandemic hit, but all these festivals have since been canceled or postponed. Because of these delays, we have also postponed the distribution of the documentary. And for this, we are very much devastated.”

Synopsis: The documentary offers a rare and intimate look inside the life and artistic process of modern-day Busshi – practitioners of a 1400 year lineage of woodcarving at the beating heart of Japanese, Mahayana Buddhism.
