What They Had (2018) is a drama film written and directed by Elizabeth Chomko. It stars Hilary Swank, Michael Shannon and Robert Forster. It also stars Blythe Danner, Taissa Farmiga and Josh Lucas. The film had its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival in January 21, 2018. It will be released in the USA on October 12, 2018 by Bleecker Street.

Elizabeth Chomko, WHAT THEY HAD centers on a family in crisis. Bridget (Hilary Swank) returns home to Chicago at her brother’s (Michael Shannon) urging. She has to deal with her ailing mother (Blythe Danner). And, her father’s (Robert Forster) reluctance to let go of their life together.

Elizabeth Chomko is an American director and writer best known for What They Had (2018). She is also a playwright and theatre actress. She has appeared in TV and film roles on Terriers (2010). Common Law (2012), and South Boston Legal (2014) among others. Her screenplay for What They Had (2018) won an Academy Nicholl Fellowship in 2015. She is originally from Chicago, Illinois.
