Los Angeles, CA – ‘KMB Entertainment’ and ‘Greater Los Angeles Agency of Deafness’ (GLAD), present the 1st TSWY International Film Festival. The festival will take place at GLAD’s Auditorium located at 2222 Laverna Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90041 on November 4th and 5th, starting at 3pm.

The Strength Within You (TSWY) Film Festival has as its mission to promote and encourage team work between Deaf and hearing filmmakers. Created from the main concept of The Strength Within You Film Series, this festival was organized to give the opportunity to those who may not have that many opportunities or venues to show their work, while believing that the collaboration between Deaf and hearing crew and cast can bring respect and education to the new filmmakers from all over the world toward the deaf community.

Filmmakers panel discussion will be held on November 4th preceded by a 2 hours screening of films selected for the festival and the pre-screening of KMB Entertainment’s new feature film “Talk to the Hands”, a film highlighting the difference between Deaf and Hearing culture. Followed the panel, a special screening of the feature film; “Found on South St” multi-awarded film about the Deaf identity in the Hearing world. The film was made with no-money and has been a great inspiration to many filmmakers and cast and crew involved in the process. On November 5th, another 2 hours screening of films selected for the festival starts at 3pm, followed by Red Carpet and VIP Reception & Award Ceremony starting promptly at 7 PM.

Filmmakers Q&A panel includes Katia Belas (Brazilian Filmmaker & Creator of “The Strength Within You” Film series), Danny Blair (Executive Producer of “Found on South Street”), Trudy Sargent (award-winner director of “TSWY – Be-YOU-tiful”), Bob Hiltermann (Actor/Director – Best known for his work on the starting of Deaf West Theatre, Oscar Winning Film “Children of a Lesser God” and TV Show “All My Children”), filmmakers of films selected for the festival, and more to be announced.
