“Max is Bleeding” by Jordan Anstatt – A Tragic Story of Domestic Violence

Jordan Anstatt made a live-action short film titled Max is Bleeding. It shares shares the story of a woman desperately trying to escape her abusive partner. This topical film will be screening at the Oscar-qualifying Palm Springs International ShortFest this month.

Synopsis: Courtney and her boyfriend bring their dog, Max, to the vet to treat a strange wound. Courtney passes off a note to the receptionist claiming her boyfriend is holding her prisoner. Her own ability to survive will tell the true story.

He wrote and directed Blue Bags Float in Saltwater, a short film that won Awards for Best Student Film. Anstatt is currently in pre-production for his next narrative short film. It is Nobody Skates Except for Me. And, is also adapting his television pilot, The Gospel According to Eddie, into a feature film.

Max is Bleeding was co-produced by Pasha Gambourg, Molly Evans, and Harrison Perkins. Pasha Gambourg is a filmmaker based out of New York. An alumnus of the School of Visual Arts directing program, he is currently a candidate for his MFA in Screenwriting at Columbia’s School of the Arts. Max is Bleeding is his second venture into producing. Molly Evans is a recent graduate of Columbia University’s MFA Creative Producing program. This past year, he has been working as an Associate Producer at The Vendetta Group. He is assisting in producing short films such as Safe Distance, The Hole, Overgrown and Black Eye. Harrison Perkins’s recent works include Blue Bags Float in Saltwater, Who We Are, Max is Bleeding, and Daddy’s Night.

Writer Louis Lagayette directed his first feature film Trendy which premiered at Raindance Film Festival in 2017. Louis is working on several television drama and film projects. This is including Blue Hands in development with France TV Slash. Also, B.R.I, co-written with Jérémiez Guez and currently in development at Canal +.

Max is Bleeding screened at Palm Springs International ShortFest from June 22nd – June 28th and will be screening at the Stony Brook Film Festival from July 22nd – July 31st.
