November 1st is a short film from Charlie Manton shortlisted for the 2020 BAFTA Awards starring Lindsay Duncan (A Discovery of Witches), Sophia Myles (Spooks) and Clint Dyer (Hope Springs)

After taking home the Student Academy Award earlier this year British director Charlie Manton’s important live action short film has been shortlisted for a BAFTA. November 1st offers an uncomfortable shotgun view of the fractures in a mother and daughter’s relationship as they travel across state to witness a long-overdue execution.

Synopsis: Traveling to witness the execution of her son’s murder a mother is torn between retaliation and reconnecting with her estranged daughter.

Writer/director Charlie Manton is based in London and trained at the National Film and Television School. His filmography includes My Mother, Tell Me, Nugget Love, Second Skin and more. He’s currently developing his debut feature.

The distribution agency Salaud Morisset’s recent short Skin won the 2019 Academy Award for Live Action Shor and Little Hands which is on the 2020 Oscar Shortlist, is representing the film.

The film was produced by Teodora Shaleva, the beautiful cinematography was created by Molly Manning Walker and the music by Thomas Ross Fitzsimmons.

November 1st has received accolades at multiple high profile film festivals including Brussels Short Film Festival, BAFTA Student Film Awards, Savannah Film Festival and more.

Now, this fantastic is now in contention for a 2020 BAFTA.
