One Degree of Miss D; So, You Thought Social Distancing was Rough?

This November, Friday the 13th, the debauched and whimsical new web series One Degree of Miss D., will make its debut (online). This comedy chronicles the various hookups of romantic anti-Christ, Miss D., traveling back to a time when a terrible one-night stand was a funny story and not a biohazard. Created, ironically, by an asexual producer and a sexually abstinent comedian (thank you New York City), Miss D. takes a bite into modern intimacy in a way that is both ridiculous and… relatable.

Synopsis: When six strangers swipe right on Miss D., they get screwed in a way they would never expect.

In 6 episodes, 6 strangers swipe right on an anonymous pansexual and get screwed in a way they’d never expect. Whether it’s a menage-a-trois with a narcolept or a hostage-sitch over some post-coital poetry, beware! Go on a date with this wildcard and you’ll end up a sub to her whimsy because in this universe, fools finish on top.

Miss D. is what I call a Tour De Farce and my contribution to feminism in comedy,” says writer-creator and star, Chloé Delaitre. “Clowns know a thing or two about taking up space and for her, this is especially true in the bedroom.” In a time when there is continued cultural demand for strong female leads, Delaitre went on a mission to write her own, only with a twist. Miss D. is not your typical leading lady. She’s powerful not by personal excellence and certainly not sex appeal, but by being indescribably weird.

As the world reels from months of isolation, this series is both timely and paradoxical in celebrating the humor around intimacy. “Swipe-culture is so strange,” says Delaitre, “Us millennials had no idea how to connect long before the social distancing began.” Loosely based on her own horror stories and filmed in her own home, Delaitre wrote the series as an absurd comment on anonymous sex, satirizing its power dynamics. Anyone who’s had a hand in the app-roulette will relate to this series: the awkward and memorable surprise of going home with that one person. “We’ve all got our own Miss D.”
