Brooklyn, NY – There is a new charming comedy for your phone. This dramatic comedy is also a vessel for thoughtful representation. Enter Other Colors.

Other Colors, created by Theo Media and Vrt Productions, is the signature scripted show for the Vrt App. Other Colors was filmed on iPhones and made for mobile-first viewing.

Synopsis: Jon tries to survive an absurd but eye-opening NYC day in anticipation of meeting his Swinder date, the charmingly honest Celine.

In this coming of age story, stage actor Jon Butts plays the protagonist Jon Harper as he tries to survive an absurd but eye-opening NYC day in anticipation for meeting his dating-app date–the charming Celine. Jon has a run-in with the neighborhood’s eccentric Irishman, a train bunny lady, and an ice cream clairvoyant. In the finale episode, Jon learns the healing power of forgiveness on the eve of meeting Celine for their first date.

Realistic representation,” says director Remoy Philip, “is what drove me to write this story.” Philip continued, “When it comes to dreams and aspirations for minority characters we’re often shown a stereotype. So I wanted to play with this idea of dreams and what it meant to dream as a minority and how there are innately personal and public conflicts when a person of color tries to pursue their dreams. It was a lot of fun to direct and produce and I’m incredibly excited to see how the audience will interact with these ideas.”

This is Philip’s directorial debut. Cinematography and Editing are by Wheeler Preddy. Pre-production began in August 2018. Production was filmed run-and-gun over five days throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan. Other Colors received The Innovator award at the 2019 Chain Film Festival in New York City. Other Colors hit the 2019 Bushwick Film Festival on Sunday, October 6, at 12:45 pm.
