Saila Kariat’s debut feature The Valley premiere’s 9th March at Soho

Film Volt Ltd. will host a public screening of The Valley on Friday 9th March 2018. The movie will make its British premiere at The Courthouse Hotel, Soho, London 19.30 – 23:30 GMT. Tickets are available to the general public.

The Valley Synopsis: Devastated by his daughter’s suicide, an immigrant entrepreneur working in high-tech seeks answers to his lingering questions.

The film, starring Pakistani-British actor Alyy Khan, has worked in Hollywood and Bollywood and is known for his role in The Mighty Heart. Ally will be flying in from Hollywood for the movie premiere on 2 March.

The Valley captures the story of a distraught father as he searches for answers after his daughter’s suicide. Designed as a suicide deterrence film, The Valley encompasses the tragedy that is suicide and the never-ending ripple effect the initial catastrophe leaves behind.

Directed by award winning female director Saila Kariat. Saila has to date written and directed several short films and feature length screenplays. The Valley is her first directorial debut. Saila shares an overview of the film and the important subject matter, which aims to raise awareness of mental health issues. She also offers advice to those suffering with feelings of hopelessness, despair or depression and family or friends worried about someone and unsure of how to approach them.

Film Volt will also be hosting a Q&A panel following the movie. Panel guests include film director Saila Kariat, Sharon Roberts, talent coach/speaker TEDX and award winning mentor. Saila Kariat was born in Berkeley, CA. Her father, an idealistic Math professor, moved them from country to country, so she lived in USA, India and Canada by the time she was 10 years old. She pursued the conventional path of electrical engineering, studying all the way to a Ph.D. at Syracuse University in NY. She pursued her lifelong passion for film, obtaining a degree from San Jose State University. While juggling family demands, she wrote and directed several short films, and feature length screenplays. The Valley is her feature directorial debut.
