Los Angeles, CA. After the horrific and extreme Genocidium, the director Alexandre David Lejuez come back with a totally different and more accessible film. It is a work with a surreal and fantastic atmosphere, which is lived as a visual and musical experience through the imagination of two totally opposite characters, Hypnos and Venus. In a way, the film is close to silent cinema.
Filmed in Normandy between October and December 2021, edited and mixed in 2022, the film is actually shown in various international festivals. It finished in the top 3 for best experimental film at the prestigious Rome Prisma Independent Film Awards and won an award in New York at the Red Moon Film Festival. The release is scheduled for this year.
“It’s a contemplative and surrealist experience. The film, as a whole, could be assimilated to a graphic visual work, rich in colors and close to painting. The character of Hypnos, strongly tormented, is similar to my previous protagonists. On the contrary, the character of Venus appears as a naïve and infantile being. I thus confront two discordant psychic systems.” said the director.
