Writer/Director Kellen Gibbs’ Feature Film Debut Tomorrow at Cinequest

Burbank, CA. California native, Kellen Gibbs announces his acceptance into the 2023 Cinequest Film Festival, with his debut feature film Tomorrow. The movie features an ensemble cast. It chronicles the story of Harper Anderson, a young girl who searches for a way home. When she finds herself inexplicably waking up as a different person everyday.

Tomorrow carries a cast of 56 actors, 19 of which play different variations of Harper. As she jumps into different bodies. Director Kellen and his cast and crew shot the film over a 6 month. The production period was during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Only adding to the difficulties and challenges of filming a feature film.

During recent years, Gibbs has found success writing and directing award winning short films, however, Tomorrow mark’s his first feature film premiere. His filmmaking career began in Pacific Grove, CA when he enlisted his friends to be a part of his filming endeavors at the age of 13 and onward.

Kellen’s work has since been nominated and invited to screen at numerous festivals, screening venues, and award ceremonies including the 34th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, Carmel Film Festival, the Screen Actors Guild, The Hollywood Music in Media Awards, and Legendary Digital’s Short Ends. His films have received over 40 award nominations.

Tomorrow was produced under Frame of Reference Entertainment, Gibbs’ production company of which he co-founded with his partner Rochel Goldsmith. The film has also been selected to participate in this year’s Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema and has been nominated for 8 awards including Best Director and Best Screenplay. In March, Tomorrow is set to hit the big screen in Idyllwild as well as publicly online as a part of Cinequest’s digital portion of their festival.

In April, the film will head to Scotland for its UK Premiere at the Scotland International Festival of Cinema, then onto San Jose for Cinequest in-person in August. Tomorrow will be continuing its festival run through 2023 as it searches for domestic and international distribution. About Kellen Gibbs
Director and  Writer, Kellen Gibbs, caused a stir after his film, The Moment I Was Alone, won Judges Choice and Best Screenplay in 2015 at the Monarch International Film Festival and Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema. Kellen Gibbs’ first foray into filmmaking began with a stop-motion Lego short when he was nine years old, and from then on, life in the Gibbs household would never be the same. In his teen years, Kellen moved to Pacific Grove, California, where he enlisted friends, family and peers to appear in fan films that set fire to YouTube.

With the emergence of his own unique creative voice propelling his work forward, Kellen then began writing and directing original material that gained entrance into festivals and distribution along different outlets online. It was in 2013 that Kellen left Pacific Grove to attend film school in Los Angeles where he was able to craft his skills as a filmmaker and extend his education. After two years of film school, he created an extensive portfolio including fan films ranging from ten to ninety minutes in length, multiple original short films, and a two-season web series with over four hours of content.

In fact, Kellen’s success did not escape the notice of the Screen Actors Guild, which invited Kellen to participate in the Short Film Showcase of 2016. Kellen’s work has been screened and nominated in numerous festivals, garnishing over 40 nominations. Coming in 2023 Kellen will release his debut feature film Tomorrow.
