What was your first impression of your character Dan? And what is his impact on his friend in the story?
Dylan Mooney (DM): When I first read the script, I immediately felt a strong connection to the character of Dan. He’s intelligent, compassionate, and deeply committed to helping his friend. Which, to me, really captured the resilience and generosity of the human spirit. The writing was incredibly strong, making it easy to fully immerse myself in the role.

Dan’s influence on Mike is significant. When they reconnect, Mike is a at low point in his life. He is struggling with self-doubt. It’s in part through Dan’s unwavering belief in him. That Mike gradually begins to rediscover his own confidence and sense of purpose.

What helped you create this character? And is there a specific moment when you knew you were fully prepared?
Dylan Mooney (DM): I approached this role with a deep sense of commitment. Because I wanted to contribute meaningfully to a story that would resonate with audiences long after the credits rolled. I worked extensively with my acting coach, Stacey Pianko. Who not only helped me prepare for the audition. She also dedicated significant time to rehearsals leading up to the shoot. Her guidance and support were instrumental in helping me feel fully prepared and confident on set.

How was working with Jesse Metcalfe and director Jonathan Bowen?
Dylan Mooney (DM): Working with Jesse Metcalfe and director Jonathan L. Bowen was truly a dream come true. They both embody professionalism and class. Jesse is an incredibly talented actor—always fully present in the moment, which made our scenes feel natural and dynamic.

Jonathan is a visionary director who fostered a warm, collaborative atmosphere on set, allowing everyone to do their best work. It was an inspiring experience. I genuinely hope to have the opportunity to collaborate with both of them again in the future.

How do you keep things fresh during long hours on set?
Dylan Mooney (DM): I stay fresh on set by remaining present, even during my downtime. I enjoy watching my fellow castmates work—it keeps me inspired and connected to the energy of the production. I’ve always viewed filmmaking as a team sport. And, by staying on set after wrapping a scene, I feel like I’m on the sidelines supporting my teammates. It’s a way to stay engaged, learn from others, and contribute to the overall spirit of the project.
