Interview: Annalia Fraser, Teen Actress, “Why I Prefer Drama to Comedy” & More

Karate, Tennis, Swimming & Family get me busy, while studying and working. And yes, I really love all of it.

Hi, my name is Annalia Fraser and I like to keep busy! I’m at school right now completing Grade 11. Tennis is one of my favorite sports. I am also working towards my black belt in Shotokan Karate but I enjoy participating in all kinds of different sports. I have four jobs at the moment, an actress, model, lifeguard/swimming instructor and I deliver the Newspaper. I have one older brother that protects me and one younger brother that makes me laugh. So lucky to have a close, loving and supportive family.

Q: How do you find time to go to school, and work as an actor at the same time?
Annalia Fraser: I’m used to being busy that I don’t really think about it. I have learned to organize my schedule as best as I can. School always comes first though.

Q: You have worked on a few films, why does it interest you?
Annalia Fraser: I love using my imagination and there is nothing I like more than telling a good story.  This past year I have met some incredible people, had some great opportunities and learned so much.

Q: You’ve starred in Pick a Puppy, Interrupted Marriage, and Wrong Hit. Which was your favourite to work on as an actor?
Annalia Fraser: They are all so different. Pick a Puppy is one of the reasons I later decided to pursue acting more seriously. I loved the crew on that set, they made everyone feel so comfortable and it was fun. The puppies we got to play with were pretty great too! That was my first experience filming and it was amazing. That is how we got our first dog, Mico. So, Pick a Puppy will alway have a special place in my heart.

Q: Did you study acting?
Annalia Fraser: Yes, I began taking drama classes when I was a little girl and loved it so much that my brothers, cousins, aunts, and parents and I would make our own movies. I continued Drama in High School. I enrolled in Second City and Armstrong Acting Studio last year and plan to continue to study acting for many years to come.

Q: What was your experience working on Wrong Hit?
Annalia Fraser: Wrong Hit was great, I played a young girl who goes through a traumatic experience. It was a scary/emotional scene(s) that I plunged right into.

Q: Who is your favourite director?
Annalia Fraser: Nick Cassavetes from the Notebook 🙂

Q: How intense is working on Interrupted Marriage, compared to Pick a Puppy?
Annalia Fraser: The character I played in Interrupted Marriage was much more intense. It is the story of a teenager whose parents marriage is falling apart and she feels lonely/ angry and confused.

Q: What plans do you have for the future?
Annalia Fraser: I plan to continue to go to school, continue my acting training/modeling, make more movies, play sports and spend time with my friends and family.

Q: Comedy, and drama seem to interest you. Which do you prefer?
Annalia Fraser: That is a good question. Since I have to pick I will say Drama. Well made dramas that tell serious stories about real life situations with conflict intrigue me and inspire me to dig deeper
