Nate & Jamie is an award winning comedy web series starring Joshua Samuels and Samuel Williams. The show is about the antics of two mischievous young adults Nate (Samuel Williams) and Jamie (Joshua Samuels).

The first season follows Jamie and the ups and downs of his new relationship with Michelle (Lauren Douglin). Nate gets into a lot of situations he’d rather avoid. He has good intentions but gets into tricky situations.

Season 2 picks up from season 1 finale, and episode 4 of the spin off web series Imperfect. Where Michelle (Jamie’s Ex) makes it clear that she is done with him and Sam (the girl Nate pursued in Season 1) and her boyfriend scare off Nate and make sure he doesn’t bother Sam again.

Development & Financing?
Kashif Boothe (KB):
I wrote the first season of the web series in 3 months and the 2nd in 4 months. I financed the series from my savings and wages from my job.

Production?
Kashif Boothe (KB):
The first season is shot over 8 months with each episode shot in a day. As the episodes were predominately set in one location or were easy to set up as multiple locations. I edited the series on Adobe premier and had assistance from an edit consultant.

The series was shot multi cam on dslr cameras and in London at houses, hotels, bar lounges and retail stores and the episodes from the series were released from November 2016 – July 2017. I wrote, produced, directed and edited the first series due to a limited budget and resources.

Advice from the Filmmaker?
KB:
I think the best advice I can offer anyone starting in the industry is to be you. That might sound cliché but that’s the best thing I’ve learned. I took advice on numerous occasions, that I need to be very chatty or be more of an extrovert to get to where I wanted to be.

That’s not me, I’m an introvert and when being myself I am able to bond with the right the people, which will lead to my next opportunity. If you don’t have the budget or the connections, don’t worry about that, just go out and do it. Once you’ve made the film or series you will meet people who are fans of your work such as writers, directors, producers who will want to work with you to take your next project to the next level.
