Kayla Strada’s film wins best short film AOF Film Festival

Kayla’s film recently won “Best Short Film” and was runner-up for “Best Dialogue” at AOF Film Festival.

Kayla Strada is an actor, performer, filmmaker and an alumni of the prestigious Stella Adler Studio in Los Angeles, California. In her own words, “Performing is what I do! It’s all I know and it’s I want to do… there’s not to much more to say other than I live breath my art. Experience is the key. I love trying new things and things that challenge me.” – Kayla Strada.

Kayla Strada’s short film has recently won the “Best Short Film” and was runner-up for the “Best Dialogue” at the AOF Film Festival. The film which was based on a monologue she co-wrote about her life and disability. The monologue was her performance piece for her High School Certificate in Australia. She has now brought the heartfelt story of “Chelsea Johnston”, the main character in the short film to American audiences.

The short film script was first written for screen, by both Kayla Strada and Timothy Wilde back in 2009. Timothy Wilde had adapted the short film script into a screenplay in 2010 and continued to develop it until it was shot in 2011 with Jessica Vickers in the lead role.

Kayla Strada was born and raised in Sydney, Austraia, Kayla Strada found a love for the performing arts at the early age but didn’t start performing professionally until the age of 15. Since then she has accomplished many triumphs in projects across Australia and abroad, In 2010, Kayla embarked on an acting journey that would lead her to Singapore and working with worlds largest movie and theme park company, Universal Studios. Kayla also played a small part in the TV series Deadly Women in 2010 episode 1 “Gypsy”. She also played a victim in Alien Termite a short film. Chelsea in the 2009 short film Chelsea and Nancy in Cold Milk. Kayla also performed on stage in shows such as Grimm’s Tales, HONK!, Alladdin, Alice in Wonderland, West Side Story, High School Musical.

Kayla portrayed Betty Boop in Universal Studios Singapore. She can be seen in a video stating the following: Listen “Mr Director” I’m a Hollywood icon and I’ve got the curves of a real star! Boopy-Doopy-Doopy-Doo-Boop-Oopy-Doo!
