VisionRey is a Mexican-American Female-Led Film Company

Burbank Native Allison Marie Reyes’ Production Company, “VisionRey,” has had two shorts selected for the 2025 lineup at Filmapalooza
Burbank, CA (March 20, 2025) – FILMAPALOOZA returns for its 23rd year from March 19-22. featuring award-winning short films from independent filmmakers around the world.
One of the only filmmakers to win two coveted spots in the festival is Allison Marie Reyes, a native Burbank resident who founded her own production company in 2021, VisionRey, which has since gone on to produce over two dozen (24) projects. Both VisionRey short films were chosen for the Filmapalooza festival because of their achievements and recognition received in the 48 Hour Film Project’s regional Los Angeles competitions in 2024.
Featuring films with two contrasting genres, VisionRey is screening their dark comedy Idle Hands, along with a fantastical, light-hearted romance titled The Infinite Wisdom of Dave the Unicorn.

“Idle Hands” is by director Scott McKinney and stars Anna Telfer, Dorian Burks, and Brian Barlow. The film acts as a twisted 1980s employee training video for a repair shop that specializes in possessed goods.
The romance film “The Infinite Wisdom of Dave the Unicorn” is under the direction of Michael Filippi. It stars Nabila Hossain, Leah Jarvik, and DeMark Thompson. It follows the story of an introvert at a college party who’s being influenced by an imaginary unicorn. Both films were written by April Yanko and executive produced by Allison Marie Reyes.
Of her acceptance into Filmapalooza, Allison said. “I originally started VisionRey with the intent of producing projects with up-and-coming talent. That’s providing opportunities for people looking to get their foot in the door within the entertainment industry. As a Mexican-American filmmaker, I want to tell unique, underrepresented, and entertaining stories while supporting filmmakers from all backgrounds. I am beyond proud of our team. Plus, it is a true honor to be able to work with such amazing creatives across the board. I’m looking forward to meeting other passionate filmmakers from all over the world at the festival.”
