Los Angeles, CA (September 30th, 2025). Mouse is the gritty new crime thriller from Short Snacks Entertainment. It proves you don’t need millions of dollars. Or massive crews or even permission to tell stories that feel like prestige TV. Created guerrilla-style with a two-to-three person crew. Mouse carries the cinematic weight and psychological complexity of a show. One that you can expect to see on HBO, yet is a production entirely outside the system.

The series follows Detective Sam Park. Who is Korean-American actor Lanny Joon (Baby DriverLostParamount’s Wolf PackNCIS: Hawai’i). As he navigates a fragile line between justice and corruption. Haunted by violent memories and tested by his volatile connection to Joey. Who is Shélah Larson (This Side UpLosers of EdenDecember to Remember). Sam must confront the past he has tried to bury while protecting the family and future he desperately wants.

MOUSE: Episode 1 stars Lanny Joon & Shélah Larson. Written/directed by Roth Rind, from Short Snacks

Joining the cast is Linc Hand. Whose extensive resumé includes Hollywood Grit42Imperium, and 68 Whiskey, in the role of the Priest. Syra McCarthy (The DropoutGrey’s AnatomyThe Alternate) as Rachel. Sam’s anchor to normalcy and truth. Shane Yoon (Henry DangerModern FamilyL.A.’s FinestDiablo II: Resurrected) as Sam’s brother Charlie. Finally Danny Parker-Lopes (Legend of the White DragonThe Book of the WitchMinority Report) as Chief Daniels.

Behind the camera of Mouse is the first original narrative project from Short Snacks Entertainment. Larson and director Roth Rind are co-founding partners. The duo built the company around one simple philosophy: stop waiting for permission.

“We felt that the industry system is crowded. The only way to get anything made was to have the big crews. Big money, and most of all, permission,” says Larson. “We reminded ourselves of why we got into this business in the first place… to make movies.”

“I was feeling stuck, waiting for so many things to align on projects I had in development,” adds Rind. “I was expressing my frustrations to Shélah and she simply asked, ‘Why are you in this business?’ I said, ‘To tell stories, of course.’ She responded, ‘So what’s stopping you?’ That’s when we created our ‘Snack Box’—everything we had on hand: gear, talent, skills, locations, ideas. It was time to create. Thus, Mouse was born.”

Shot for both horizontal and vertical formats, the series is being distributed across YouTubeInstagram, and TikTok to meet audiences where they watch. The approach mirrors the show’s ethos: build boldly with whatever you have.

Beyond the drama on screen, Mouse is intended to serve as inspiration for other independent filmmakers. Rind emphasizes: “Remember why you got into this business. Don’t wait for permission. Don’t let the system, budget, or gatekeepers stop you. Tell the story with what you have.”
